As of late I have been pondering my relationship with humans. Specifically with my friends and family but also with complete strangers. I have reached the conclusion that a life unaffected by others is nothing but meaninglessness: insensible and faded, an unlived life like the grass that undoubtedly withers away. I read a quote that other day by Francis Schaeffer who called mankind a “glorious ruin.” I fell in love with this idea. I then asked myself, “Do I treat others with the love and compassion that a ruin needs and the with the worth that glory implies?” The world is broken. And everybody is hurting. I am beginning to see the people of this world as something worth loving.
